HERDADE DA FEDORENTA

There are two kinds of dreamers: those who lose themselves in daydreams and those who strive to give their visions a tangible form.
We belong to the latter.
We have been on this land for over 100 years.
But how do you endure for a century in a region known for its rugged terrain, a region that tests those who venture into its hills and valleys?
The perfect example of survival is a plant that thrives here: rockrose.
Visit Herdade da Fedorenta in spring and, right at the entrance, you will find an imposing shrub covered in white-petalled flowers. That is the rockrose in bloom.
More than its fruit, it is the white-petalled flowers and distinctive scent that make this plant an emblem of the region.
Its leaves release an aromatic resin, labdanum, sometimes used in perfumery. This is the fragrance often found in the tasting notes of our wines.
Rockrose embodies unique qualities that we recognise in ourselves: perfectly adapted to the terrain, climate and challenges of the region, it is persistent, hardy and resilient. Its aroma and dazzling white petals never fail to surprise.
Rockrose leaves no one indifferent, and this is the impression we want our wines to make. There is another quality that brings us closer to this species: its adaptability and rapid growth.
Rockrose has been used to encourage the development of ecosystems on less fertile land.

As it grows, it helps others grow. This is how we see our place in the region.

Neither a lack of water nor extreme temperatures prevent this shrub from flowering and enriching the landscape.
With little, much. In adversity, prosperity.
We grow and live in the same way, the rockrose and us.
It would be strange otherwise: after all, we have shared this region for over 100 years.
